Whats in a Word

Having sat in a cafe for an hour the wandered round spending more than I meant to I am now sat back in the woods near my sons nursery. I am writing this on my phone using more new technology well trying I don’t know if you can see it yet lol.

I am reading a book at the minute about the history of Broadmoor ‘Lunatic’ Asylum. The vicorian defintion of a lunatic was someone who ran wild and could not control their actions. Maybe not so different from the way we use it today, although we of course are much more informed on the whole about mental illness.

But what I am thinking about is the power of the single word to sum up a persons entire being. As writers many of us hear those voices in our heads telling us stories that we have to put down on paper regardless of whether they will be read or not. I wonder if we were denied the education and resources to purge our minds how many of us would remain ‘sane’.

By victorian standards I am pretty sure I border on lunacy I am mad, bad or dangerous? Well that would be telling…. How about you?
