Short, yummy and on so tempting. This is such a naughty tease of a tale, that I can’t wait to read more of. Stephanie Hudson’s work is the bomb, especially this series.

2.0 out of 5 stars Too many unfinished stories

Some of the stories were great and interesting, and those were typically unfinished, which was just truly frustrating. That just ruined my enjoyment of the book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fab short story selection

A fab set of short stories to wet all appetites. Each story has a redhead and covers all genres like MC, Vampires, strippers and a touch of sweetness too. Hot, sweet, sexy and dark. Each one leaves you wanting more from these brilliant authors. I really loved these tasters and found a great selection of new to me authors.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great collection of short stories!

Whats not to love about this anthology all set around red headed beauties… i love how all authors get limited details and they all bring such a great mix of different reads, we have MC, vampire, Royals, undercover drama, second chances and the falling in love with your friends sister, all rolled into one fab set of stories.
I bought this initially for TL Wainwrights story which i absolutely LOVED! More twists, turns, and drama set around those hot YOMC bikers! Definitely want more from JB & Scarlett.
I also loved Elle M Thomas story with some forbidden bestfriends sisters romance, loved Spence and Emilia and would love to find out whats next for these guys.
RM Gardner, as much as i don’t read Royal romances i was hooked into this story 😉
This collection seriously has something for everyone, jump in and buy this asap!

5.0 out of 5 stars A mix of amazing short stories

A collection of short stories, all of which have a Red theme within. We have a mix of Vampyres, MC,Strippers and Gangsters, Brother’s best friend, girls night in with a ouija board, well you get the idea. This is a fabulous collection, each author has put their own take on the theme/picture that were given and have done it so well. Each tale will have you riveted and wanting more. If you fancy an opportunity to test the waters with new authors this is the way to do it. I will be honest I was drawn to this by the first story by Tracie Podger an already firm favourite for me and I got to the end of her story wishing I could have more, there is so much more to tell and I have heard a whisper that there may well be a full length book for A Blood Like Mine and in the meantime I have many new authors to explore. Grab this now and lose yourself in a world of fantasy, love and mystery, you will love it.

4.0 out of 5 stars A great collection

Fact Vs Fiction

Where it all began!

As I set about getting this year off to a productive start I decided the appropriate place to begin was back where it all began…

It was my first book but it wasn’t supposed to be. I had been writing Voices planning to help raise funds for a courageous little boy named Charlie Harris Beard, if you have been around for long enough you will know what happened and that sadly he passed before I finished the book. I put that to one side and wrote some other stories but I had no clear plan of what to do with them. At this time my 18 year relationship was crumbling and many of the stories came as a result of my inability to write a happily ever after.

Once the relationship was over I was determined to find myself, so I pulled together these stories and took a better look at them. Some went in the bin, never to see the light of day, some still remain hidden in files on my computer but these precious few were initially hastily edited and put together. The cover created in the kindle app using a photo I had taken and which I constantly consider replacing but I am too attached to the symbolism. Then before I could second guess myself I hit publish and hid.

I sat waiting for the horrible reviews to come, so far I have been lucky and I am still waiting. I have gone back and given it a proper edit since, but I cannot tell you the mix of excitement and terror I felt hitting that button. I love some of these stories, one ended up with a sequel in Voices, but my favourite is Table For One. I think it was probably inspired by Alan Bennett’s Talking Heads. Somewhere there was a recording of me reading it but it’s much better if you listen to the audio book instead. Here are a few reviews about the book…

As you can see not all 5 star reviews but the main complaint was not the quality but the length of the stories and maybe I should have made some longer. If my brain wasn’t full of stories I might go back and do more to them but for now they stay as they are, a tribute to survival when my world crumbled.

If you would like to read it for yourself if is available on Amazon and in Kindle Unlimited.

Happy New Year My Friends

It has been quite while since I posted here, or anywhere else other than the odd FB message. At one point I almost walked away but sometimes the things that almost break us make us stronger eventually. I could come back with the usual resolutions but for here the plan is to be consistent again. This blog was set up to talk about my writing journey and so that is what we are going to get back to.

Mondays will be all about published books, and an occasional book review. I will share the reviews, links, special offers, cover releases and all that good stuff you all love so much.

Wednesdays will be WIP days, sharing what I am working on, how it is going and share my thoughts on the writing process. I need to decide today which book I finish first as I have three books half written, I think I know which it will be based on my first signing of the year.

Fridays will be about my friends. I have made a lot of author friends at signings and they are amazing authors so I will share some snaps of us at events alongside the links to their books.

The plan for the weekend is to get back to the podcast on a Sunday, and a YouTube video on the Saturday. However, my computer has died so I am sharing my son’s laptop right now so I can say what form these will take at the minute.

I am going to try to keep most of the horsey stuff and family chat to my readers group which you can go join here if you want and personal Facebook but keep my Facebook author page for books and writing stuff too. It will also of course have shared posts that I think my readers may be interested in, and of course the Question Of The Day at lunchtime which usually gets some interesting responses.

My official website will be posts about books and signings but I will try to keep the content different, it will have cover reveals etc but this is the place for the more chatty version, that will be the more formal Sunday best type place lol.

It may sound like I am going to be overwhelming myself but it is more a case of pushing myself and being more organised. Dreams only come true if you go out there and make them happen. See you Wednesday, and Happy New Year to each of you. I hope you find happiness in 2024 doing what you love.

What I Read This Week.

At the minute I go through phases and as I am reading more on my kindle it has become easier to just hit the ratings when I finish reading rather than write a full review here. I do believe though that word of mouth is what can sell books for authors so I will be giving you a mix of what I am reading with books that are still stuck in my head.

This was the book I started the week with and I did really enjoy the story right up to the last chapter!

The last chapter saw the main character through the whole plot point out of the window. And it ended unsatisfactorally with a quick summary of what happens and a plug for the next book.

While I totally appreciate that many authors use freebies to encourage people to buy the rest of the series I find I am more likely to buy an authors work if I have read a full story by them rather then it be so obviously that they are just after your cash.

Before anyone says anything I know as an author that making money is hard but I was enjoying this book, had it been finished properly, even just to the end of the summary that was provided in the storyline I would have happily bought the next in the series but knowing this story seems to be split into at least three segments I can’t help but wonder if there will be another whole section merely summarised.

I don’t normally write negatively but in this case I am because I know this author can write, I have no idea if something in her personal life made her rush to end it and that was the reason for the summary section but rather then making me rush for more it slammed the brakes on and I didn’t even bother reading the taster pages for the next section of the book.

If the plot runs longer make the series longer, don’t compromise on good writing to fit it into a word count, this could have been so, so good but it has now left me looking elsewhere for my next read which is…

I just started this yesterday and I admit I am flying through it. No one can ever be sure what goes on behind closed doors. Nosy neighbours obsessed with keeping up standards totally miss what is happening just across the street. I don’t want to say too much at this point but so far it is heading for 5 stars.

You might have seen an earlier post today that was dated a few weeks ago. For some reason it didn’t publish but the book I mention there was called The Night Firm and I have to say a thoroughly recommended it. I was hooked right up to the last page. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B082KFX6S9/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_2VBQNAP6ZVG32FA4TM05

So that’s this week’s reading round up will my current read be as good as it seems right now? I will let you know next week.
