Book Review – The Sting of The Scorpio (The Scorpio Series #2) by Monique Domovitch

Another enthralling page turner. The sequel to Scorpio Rising takes us on a hectic rollercoaster ride with its two main characters.

Once again the flaws of these two people draw us in. Alex’s ambition and greed possess him overwhelming the love he has for his wife. Brigitte is a wonderfully complex character while we admire her loyalty and determination her naivety remains and at times the reader has the urge to reach into the pages and shake her.

The new characters to the series are wonderfully written, the larger than life Natalia is perfectly balanced against Brigitte. The friendship which develops between these two opposites is truly heart warming. Alex should not be a character who elicits sympathy but such is the quality of the writing you still yearn for him to realise the error of his ways and be the husband that Brigitte deserves. When tragedy strikes your heart weeps for Brigitte.

As the plot develops you find yourself drawn in and conflicted. The romantic yearns for the fairy tale ending, but the realist knows this cannot be. The second half of the novel evolves at breakneck speed drawing you into the intricate twists and turns not only of big business but the complexities of the human psyche. Skeletons emerge from closets to wreak havoc in unexpected ways. My only complaint….is having to wait for the next instalment.
