I am posting because I am determined to blog every day this year, but really have nothing prepared and I have been working so bare with me this could either be incredibly boring or extremely interesting.
Following the post about getting fit I decided to dig out the various Fitness DVD’s I have hidden amongst the real films. Now one of two of them have had some use over the years and will therefore be a great way to assess my fitness in terms of prior to back injury, others well lets just say they may have provided comedy moments, so I thought it would be fun to share with you the madness that will be taking place in my living room when no one else is home….
First up
Now I am going to confess I only ever did this a couple of times mainly because they seemed to assume you were a trained dancer and had a clue what they were talking about, it did have a great soundtrack and maybe this time round I will do better, I couldn’t find a clip for this but she did do Strictly so I guess if I share a clip of that you will see her skill level and understand why us mere mortals struggle…
Second…
I do not know what possessed me to buy this I really should have known but I thought it would be cool, the soundtrack would be great and hey they are dancers they will explain things right? Wrong! Once more they assume you know all the moves but even worse these are girls employed to dance sexily and look great so they make you feel even more inadequate after working out than you did before, the actual routines are incredibly hard to keep up with and unless you 18 with a kick ass body the chances are like me you can’t even get your body into the shapes they think you should be able to. Again there was no clip available but I did find a clip showing the Pacha dancers at their day (okay Night) jobs in the club…
Next up…
I love this, and used to do it several times a week prior to my pregnancy, in fact my daughter even bought me a yoga DVD for my pregnancy with the monster, this for me will be the real test of my back as I lose weight and get fitter. Right now I know I will only be able to do a little and will have to be very careful not to over do certain positions, others however actually have featured in my physio exercises so its all good. And even better I actually managed to find a clip to share with you…
The last two are new ones I bought last year and have watched but not tried actually doing yet but I have to say they look fun and I can’t wait to try…
Now I can’t say how easy they will be but they actually are really well explained so I expect them to be reasonably easy to follow and the fact I love these dances should help inspire me I couldn’t find actual clips from the DVDs but here is Karen who is one of the dancers who stars in the top one explaining the basics in another DVD.
Tomorrow I am going to throw a quilt on the floor and try my yoga warm up to gauge my beginning flexibility, wish me luck.
I wish you all the luck in the world but will have a medical team on standby just in cas and a team of carpenters for the floorboards. Try and have some fun !

I am trying Yoga, though some of the poses scare the bejebus out of me. I have also taken over my runaway husbands old music room and am installing a barre, I use to do ballet and so I am looking for a barre exercise routine I can do (without injury). I think you and I are on the same track! Good for you!

Good luck, Paula. I’m trying to get back into shape too, and I know it isn’t easy. But if you can quit smoking, you can do this too.
