Writing and Reducing yourself to tears

I am posting this from my phone. I have no home internet for a few day – my own fault too busy enjoying myself to worry about bills and how much I was spending but it is actually a blessing.

I have just finished the revised draft on the second story and have managed to avoid tears with this one. The original story Bluebell Woods was going to be the opening story in Voices however this final draft took me much deeper into the story than I had intended venturing leaving me sat sobbing into my coffee. I decided therefore it should be moved to the penultimate story position then the readers will not be so upset they stop reading.

Once the internet is back up the revamped story will be heading to a couple of beta readers to reassure me it has not gone too far down a very distressing road.

Hopefully this will send and I shall be back reading blogs and posting daily by the end of the week.

  1. Sounds like you’re at a tipping point. 🙂 And I hope creatively you wind up satisfied with moving forward on your story. It’s awfully nice to be able to look back in hindsight and see that certain what I call “exercises in futility” do pan out and not only make the work much better but allow to grow as a artist and person. Good luck!

  2. I hope you manage to get things sorted Paula. Please say you weren’t sobbing into your coffee in the middle of Costa or somewhere. The explanations needed for that would have been quite something.
Best of luck with the beta-readers.
