Stories and Lists July Blog Challenge 2013 – Day 4: List 10 things you wish were true but are not, example: I wish the sky was pink instead of blue

Day 4: List 10 things you wish were true but are not, example: I wish the sky was pink instead of blue

I posted this as Question of the day on my blog this morning and already have some interesting comments on there if you wish to take a look please feel free to go take a peek. So on with the list though I am pretty sure that some will come as not surprise.

1)  I would wish that Cancer was a word no one had ever heard of, that not only would it never have existed but also that those who lost their battles to it could be back with us.

2)  I wish magic was real and that we could all fix broken bones, injuries and broken objects

3) That broomsticks really could fly I would love to feel the wind in my hair as I flew though the sky and as long as someone was around to fix the broken bones if I fell of it would be okay.

4) No animal would ever be bred for profit and every pet would have a loving and safe and happy home.

5) My dress size would never raise about a size twelve and I would be able to eat what I liked

6) The first publisher to read my novel will love it so much they will pay me millions in advance to write the rest of the trilogy (a girl has to dream)

7) Time travel was possible and we could all have our own TARDIS’s to go where we liked

8) It would only ever rain between 3am and 5 am with the exception of scheduled thunderstorms when we could all stop work to enjoy them

9) No one would be allowed to shop on a weekend therefore making it unnecessary for shop to be open then I would have every weekend off

10) Everyone on the planet would get along and be nice to each other, help their neighbours regardless of class, race, gender or religion and the world would be a better place to live in.

    1. When you said that I thought of planes but if we flew we wouldn’t need them which would help save the planet – hey, we wouldn’t need cars either. It could work.

  1. If we can’t shop on the weekend cafés and restaurants should be open . How can we fix movie theaters so people can have off too…. hmmmmmmm.

      1. my daughter will be starting her final year of university in september but she has struggled to get a job because of that lovely phrase ‘experience needed’ so my plan would all ow them to get their experience while we enjoyed the weekend and it would stop them doing too much damage to their bodies by partying all weekend

      2. No foolin’ – around here there are 2 colleges and 1 university that pretty much dominates the town. I have to tell you these kids aren’t broke for the most part. Mommy and daddy write big checks. They’ve got student housing now – apartments from 2 bedroom to 4 bedroom at 495 to 795 per bedroom, not apartment. Ok, there’s amenities – a lot of these places set up communities but still, it’s big money.

One thing that was a big problem was drinking. I first moved to Columbia MO in 1987. There were open container privileges – each year when fall semester began there were deaths from student stupidity and a lot of car accidents. people around me would be sobbing – so tragic – and I’d be like “you’re kidding, right?” It was like no laws and a college town. Now campus is almost dry out of necessity, there are still an overabundance of bars but the police are trying to get things buttoned up by 1am. Let’s see, it took them 26 years to figure it out…

Partying is great… you’re supposed to enjoy college, but staying alive would be handy. I’m a single mom and went back to school when my kids were big, I was a 41 year old freshman – I’ve seen a lot. Actually my son went away to college in MA for his Freshman year and then came back here for the remaining time. I graduated may 2001 and he graduated in August. It was neat.

  2. PS – I used to hear “not enough experience” when I was an adolescent. Around here the students get the jobs and us old coots get dissed.

  3. Sorry it’s taken so long to comment – was without internet service for a few days. I love this list! It would be nice if cancer was a word no one spoke or had ever heard of
